What is the difference between a "Trusted masternode" an "EVO/HPMN masternode" and a "Trustless masternode"

Understand the three different flavors of masternode in CrowdNode

Written by Peter Vesborg May 19, 2024

The DASH network has two kinds of masternodes: Regular masternodes, which require 1000 DASH locked, and the new "high performance" masternodes, which among other things require 4000 DASH locked.

In CrowdNode, a "Trusted masternode" and a "Trustless masternode" both refer to a regular (1000 DASH lock) masternode, while a "EVO/HPMN masternode" is of the 4000 DASH lock type.

The difference between a "Trusted masternode" and a "Trustless masternode" has to do with the way the 1000 DASH is stored. For a "Trusted masternode", it is CrowdNode which handles storage of the 1000 DASH while for a "Trustless masternode" the 1000 DASH are stored on a multisignature address with pre-signed transactions which, at any time, can be used to send the DASH back to all the participants in the trustless masternode.
